It was with much regret that the committee had received notification that Sid Akbar after 3 years as club GM would be stepping down with immediate effect due to ongoing health issues. It’s something the club have been aware of for some time and have been closely kept up to date about the situation. Sid grew the club from a small bunch of friends and turned the club into a fully operational multi discipline club which we see today. Over this time the GM role and other committee positions has allowed the club to grow from strength to strength and we would like to thank Sid for his contributions to the club and the tremendous amount of time and effort he put into the role during his time.

We had a chance to get a comment from Sid about his time with the club

“It is with deep sadness I resign my post as GM due to ongoing health issues which sadly is getting worse. I have enjoyed being part of this club and will miss it. Football and establishing a club that built and developed all disciplines of the sport was a passion and dream that I am proud I saw come to life. The other committee members and coaches are dedicated people who work tirelessly to make Carnegie American Football Club what it is today. I am proud of everyone in the club and I am confident the club will continue to grow and produce real talent over the coming years.”

We anticipate seeing Sid still on the side-line being a keen fan of American Football and he has also added that he can help the club on a voluntary basis as and when he can which we look forward to. So, from the committee and members we would like to wish Sid all the best in his future endeavours and in health.
